BEHEWA HOUSE DETAILS
Pehoni House was designed by Andrew Melesi with an eclectic mix of architectural references. The large ground floor dining room seats up to 18 and the first floor sitting room is perfect for entertaining or relaxing, it enjoys some of best views on the Kenya Coast. There is a sunset viewing terrace on the roof with two Swahili sunloungers. The house is furnished comfortably and simply in an uncluttered style with beautiful Swahili, East African and Indian antique furniture.
Behewa House is designed in a Swahili style and designed around a central courtyard. The downstairs is furnished for living and dining with a young palm and fern garden in the courtyard "the behewa". The house has an airy and cool atmosphere as part of the courtyard is open to the sky. Simply decorated in white paint with some Mirella Ricciardi Lithographs and Indian embroideries hung on the walls. The furniture is mostly Swahili and Indian. The living area has two sofas and a convivial arrangement of Indian chairs. The dining table comfortably seats 8 with a max. of 10 people.
The Mdoroni property has 8 bedrooms, the two houses are typically treated as one home.

Mdoroni has a charming small cove below the house, nestled into an ancient baobab tree is an old boathouse, the upper floor is a now a stylish private apartment. Comprising a double bedroom and ensuite, living/dining room and kitchen, and two lovely outdoor terraces. The windows along the front provide gorgeous views onto the creek and the beach is accessed by a few steps.
This perfect romantic getaway has its own entrance and is available on its own, or added on the Pehoni and Behewa houses.

Mdoroni is tucked into a gentle curve at the mouth of Kilifi Creek on the south side, at a point known as Ras Kitoka.
The property consists of two fully furnished and equipped four-bedroom houses, with a pristine swimming pool in between. Each new house has amazing views from a panoramic terrace, up and down Kilifi Creek and out to sea. We have our own private steps down a coral bluff to a quiet beach.
Pehoni House is decorated with colourful prints and carpets this house contains four bedrooms that can sleep up to 9 people: 2 large airy master bedrooms with king size beds and amazing views/ one room has a private terrace overlooking the mouth of the creek, the other opens on to the breakfast terrace; there is a flexible bedroom that can be either be a double room or a three single bedded room and a downstairs there is a bedroom with 2 single beds; feather pillows and 100% cotton bed linen/towels are provided.
This house sleeps up to 10, the two first floor master bedrooms have a large four-poster Swahili double beds and mosquito nets and ceiling fans. Each of these have an ensuite dressing room with a single bed , this can also be used for a child; one room has a small balcony overlooking the creek, both rooms have their own shower, basin and loo.
In front of the upstairs bedrooms there is a spacious uncovered terrace, furnished with dhow wood sofas, two armchairs and a table. A shade can be erected here if desired.
The two downstairs bedrooms are either side of the palm garden, with 6'6" beds and mosquito nets and ceiling fans, one bedroom has a full bathroom ensuite and the other a full shower room ensuite; each bedroom has double doors onto the terrace outside. Each bedroom is connected with an alarm button to the local Kenya Guards Security Patrol.
Our kitchens are run by Patrick and Naomi, very special cooks, they can cook the best lasagna out of Tuscany, delicious sashimi with fresh locally caught fish, Swahili and Indian curries and a perfect barbeque to name just a few ideas. Menus are discussed according to guests preferences and Patrick is given a float for the shopping and settles the accounts with the guest. Elizabeth is our experienced head housekeeper and is assisted by an assistant-housekeeper, together they manage day-to-day cleaning, laundering and table service. We have all the Cutlery and Crockery and Glassware necessary.
